Week Two
Water Working in Fuel Tanks

The Cleansing Process Continues

Just like in the recording of Biblical Times - the fuel contaminated aircraft from around Archerfield and elsewhere are undergoing a cleansing process with water before being allowed back in the air to be part of the 'heavenly flying bodies'

The normally "bad" ingredient for fuel tanks is apparently doing an excellent job of returning the Mobil Avgas contaminated aircraft back to a "reborn" or "good-as-new" condition

The only problem for owners and maintenance organisations is the non-availability of carby and fuel injection parts that are sometimes required but not available due to the high demand

This parts shortage will force many of the larger aircraft to remain grounded for an extended period of time and there is no end in sight to this problem for the affected aircraft

News Desk Observation

JetCraft's Boss Randall MacFarlane has based his Grumman Avenger warbird here at Archerfield after having maintenance carried out at the Aerotec hangar in Toowoomba

Randall obtained the machine from the Sir Tim Wallace Warbird Collection in Kiwi Land

Skydiving from Space

The world's largest parafoil measuring 7,500 square feet and more than one and a half times the surface area of a 747 jet's wingspan - glides to Earth during a Jan 19 test flight*

* Details from a NASA Press Release

The flight conducted by NASA's X-38 prototype team is for a space station "lifeboat" and designed so that the space crew would glide from orbit in their X-38 just like the Space Shuttle then descend to earth using the parafoil

  • Skydiving is now no longer just a fun sport and has suddenly become of age!
