 Week Two
Spitfire Arrives

Spitfire Replaces C172
The Cessna 172 operated by John McCarron - a local off-Archerfield business operator - has been replaced by a Spitfire

The kit-built Spitfire looks just like the real thing parked amongst the other aircraft at Archerfield and even looks more realistic when airborne

Over the past 9 years John has been flying from and then returning to his Somerset Dam property on a daily basis in his "Tweedy Bird" tailed early model C172

News Desk Observation

  • Since 1991 the faithful C172 arrived in the morning and then depared the 'field in the late afternoon almost like clockwork
  • Whilst the scenery might not change for John when he commutes back and forth, the flying pleasure most certainly will and it also reduces the daily travelling time by ground based vehicles by more than 2 hours!

John's Spitfire was built locally alongside the airport - click HERE for a previous news item on the aircraft back in June 1999
