USA's First Flight Enactment
|
December 18
After 100 years and at the same place and at the same time - the much publicised and costly replica of the Wright Flyer trying to recreate the first flight of
a heavier-than-air flying machine failed when it was unable to gain sufficient airspeed
|
"In front of 35,000 visitors (still wet from a morning downpour) and millions of worldwide television viewers - the very
expensive, very time consuming project ended its historic journey into the past slightly damaged and in a puddle at the end of a 200-foot portable runway/rail"
