 Aircraft fatalities from the Crash Records Office in Geneva have reported that 1,379 persons died worldwide in 2002 as a result of aircraft accidents, the lowest toll since 1947
"All of the big accidents were concentrated in the first half of 2002 and three of them occurred in May"
 China Airlines Boeing 747-200 in Taiwan
was the most serious along with a Air China Boeing 767 which slammed into a South Korean mountain and a Nigerian BAC 1-11 that ended up in a Kano residential area

gunpoint, was used to terrorise the locals in Frankfurts CBD by flying around the high-rise
 "A spokesman for the Babenhausen flying club said the plane
was an Austrian-made Super Dimona motorglider ...with the engine off it can be used as a glider"

for the period, ended up with 70 fatalities, 10 up on last year, along with 2 light aircraft deaths that occurred right at the start of the OZ national holidays
The News Desk report at this time last year have road deaths at 60 with light aircraft fatalities nil; the previous period was 80 fatalities, with light aircraft deaths again nil
