conditions intent on flying to Boonah south of Archerfield finished up a statistic when he
impacted Mount Cordeaux on the range near Cunningham's Gap

The 48-year-old and 400 hour pilot lost his
life challenging the elements in his two-seat Drifter 503
|
He was on the last leg home after a flying holiday he began with other ultralight pilots two weeks ago

SAR-Time Cancellation Confusion

Search and Rescue were alerted after the pilot of a Cessna 210 failed to cancel his SAR time for arrival at Hall's Creek in central OZ late Monday
|
"The pilot called authorities
early Tuesday from Louisa Downs Station to advise he was safe and well, but low on fuel from storm dodging"
|
The young professional pilot did not carry a GPS nor a satellite phone and was unable to cancel his SAR by normal methods due to the remoteness of the station property

Bush Fires Claim another Aircraft

A fixed-wing agricultural aircraft, a Dromader M18, assisting ground crews to control bush fire "hot-spots" crashed during manoeuvres severely injuring the pilot

The accident occurred in an area known as the Razor-Viking Wilderness near Mt Buffalo in Victoria
|
There has now been 3 aircraft lost fighting bush fires over the past six weeks
