July 9
Two years ago in July 2002 USA professional airline pilots - Captain Thomas Cloyd and F O Christopher Hughes -
tried to fly their America West Airbus A319 from Miami to Phoenix "under the influence of alcohol"
"A female security guard
at Miami airport suspected the 2 were drunk and called police"
The Airbus had 124 passengers on board and was taxiing for take-off when controllers ordered
it back to the terminal - the pilots were fired by America West the same day
After legal manoeuvring over the past 2 years the pilots were set free on $100,000 bond -
"Each pilot faces up
to 15 years in prison and fines of $250,000 if convicted"
