OZe Built Seeker Takes-Off at Last

June 15
Two Seeker SB7L-360 Reconnaissance aircraft - designed and built by Seabird Aviation at Hervey Bay in Queensland - are due to be delivered to Basra in Iraq next month

The Seeker aircraft to be flown by Iraqi Air Force pilots are fitted with high-resolution surveillance systems and digital video recording hardware enabling them to communicate "suspicious activity to Iraqi and US-led forces on the ground"

"...managing director Don Adams confirmed that two of the aircraft had been assembled as a joint-venture in Jordan"

Smoking RAAF Hercules Emergency

June 17
An RAAF Hercules made an emergency landing at Tamworth airport in the north-west of New South Wales overnight after the pilot reported smoke in the cockpit

Two ambulances - one rescue vehicle - three fire units - and a number of police responded to the emergency and rushed to the airport

The C-130 Herc had 16 persons on board including 8 police dogs - it landed safely and without further drama

Cessna C150 Take-Off Drama

June 20
A 2-seat Cessna C-150 departing Gladstone around midday experienced an engine problem and was forced to make an emergency landing on nearby Red Rover Road that passed alongside the airport

The two on board were able to walk away after the Cessna hit an embankment during the enforced landing causing substantial damage

"A man in his 60's and a teenage boy suffered minor injuries"

Two OZe Skydivers Lost in Indonesia

June 21
Two Australian parachutists lost their lives when the Cessna C185 jump aircraft they were in plunged into Lake Lido south of Jakarta in Indonesia

The aircraft was operating from the Lake Lido Resort and had 5 persons on board when it "reportedly dove into Lido Lake"


"It is a small Cessna plane usually based at the Lido resort for parachute jumps" - there were no survivors
