A 54-year-old pilot in his "new" 1950's vintage Chinese built Nanchang CJ-6A trainer aircraft (registered as owner just 1½ months
ago) was practising aerobatics over the sea when he carried out a "Truscott Barrel Roll"
manoeuvre and ended up too low during the sequence |
The CJ-6A impacted the sea off Turimetta Beach north of Sydney and was
destroyed by the impact forces and sank - rescuers recovered the body of the pilot a few hours later |
