Brisbane International Airport Closed Steve Fossett Solo Trip Preparations

January 25
Brisbane Airport was closed to large "heavy" traffic from around 1610hrs by B727 freighter veering off the main runway and becoming stuck in boggy ground

"We understand - but it is not confirmed - they had a problem with the front nose wheel at relatively low speed which caused them to go off to the side of the runway"

The airport reopened about 3 hours later after the aircraft was removed

The Steve Fossett plan to launch Global Flyer is now set down for February 8 for the non-stop solo circumnavigation of the Globe on only one tank of gas

Having the right weather conditions for the flight will determine when the Global Flyer is launched for the marathon and no doubt record breaking journey

Basic Flight Plan is for around 66 hours at up to 50,000ft heading approximately 090 degrees
