 Home-Built Fibreglass Aircraft Accident at Mildura Airport Claims 2
 Glasair Owner-Builder-Pilot and Son in Unsuccessful Go-Around

A home-built Glasair was destroyed after it impacted sheds about 1km from the airport during a second attempt to land in blustery weather conditions and poor visibility
 
The 2-seat aircraft had departed Broken Hill earlier in the day and was attempting to land at it's home airport of Mildura when the pilot lost control ..."there are reports of engine spluttering"

The pilot along with his 10-year-old son were killed after the fibreglass constructed aircraft burst into flames on impact during which both wings and the tailplane were torn from the fuselage

Archerfield's OIC from 60's & '70's Final Farewell - Eric Felmingham's Departure

March 10  2006
Final farewells for Eric Felmingham - chief air traffic controller and OIC of Archerfield during the 1960's and 70's and senior committee member of the 1988 Hinkler Bicentennial Air Race - were held at the Mt Gravatt Crematorium Chapel on Friday 10th March

Eric joined the RAAF during the war years and maintained an interest in light aircraft during his working career mainly as an air traffic controller at Archerfield as well as assisting on various Warana and Hinkler air-race committees and air shows

Air-races starting from Archerfield to various places around the country (two days duration - QLD and/or NSW) were held each year during the late 60's through to the mid-70's finally ending with a 9 day race around QLD in 1988 attracting 126 aircraft with their crews
