An experienced 57 year-old pilot flying his classic 5-seat
V35B V-Tail Beechcraft Bonanza slammed into the 319-metre Mount Killiecrankie on Flinders Island in Bass Straight shortly after departing a local airstrip
Circumstances leading up to the crash including the possibility that it was not just an accident are under investigation by Police

The pilot had moved from Melbourne to Flinders Island with his 'new' girlfriend about year ago after constructing a 'new' house at
nearby Palana Bay
The pilot - Peter Waterhouse - is reported to have left a
note found only after he had crashed his pride-and-joy into
the cliff-face
The Archerfield based Brisbane Flying Group lost one of their Grumman Tigers on Mt Warning in an almost identical situation
back in the early '90's
