Professional Pilot Lost in Crop-Duster Accident in Central NSW

A pilot working a paddock near Nyngan apparently lost control of his crop-dusting machine and impacted the ground

Police believe the 40-year-old local Trangie man Paul Corcoran lost control of his aircraft as it banked right for a second dusting run over a paddock about midday yesterday

The pilot worked for aerial spraying and flight training company Rebel Ag - an aerial spraying company that had been operating out out of Trangie airport for more than 20 years

Local residents say the aircraft's engine had cut out during the turn causing the pilot to loose control

Lake Buccaneer Amphibian Accident Departing Boonah Airstrip

A 4-seat Lake Buccaneer LA-4-200 with 2 persons on board hit the ground shortly after take-off from the Boonah airstrip south of Archerfield at around 1115 hrs

A wing of the amphibian apparently clipped a cement water tank with the machine then impacting the ground in an adjoining property that resulted in significant damage to the airframe

The Lake owner - a 57-year-old from Belmont in Brisbane - was taken to the Ipswich Hospital with bruising and possible spinal injuries

His passenger - a 51-year-old male from Maroochydore - sustained a broken arm and possible spinal injuries and was airlifted to the PA Hospital

Festive Season Light Aircraft Accidents Claim Two Lives

Two people have died in light aircraft accidents here in OZ over the Christmas period

In Victoria a 62-year-old pilot lost his life when the aircraft he was flying crashed into a paddock off Edden Road near Woodleigh in South Gippsland and burst into flames

As a Christmas tradition the pilot would fly over the houses of his neighbours but apparently this time he struck powerlines

Meanwhile in central NSW the wreckage of 4-seat Cessna has been found upside down on the side of a ravine in a national park north-west of Merriwa

The 38-year-old pilot and his 32-year-old brother-in-law were en route from Mudgee to Glen Innes on Christmas Eve when the aircraft entered cloud depriving the pilot of visual reference - his passenger did not survive
