USA SUPER BOMBER EMERGENCY LANDING AT TULLAMARINE AIRPORT

A US Air Force B1B Lancer heading for Avalon was forced to divert to Tullamarine after a problem was detected by the 4-man crew where full emergency services including airport fire-fighters and police were waiting - the aircraft landed without incident

The 4-engine swing-wing supersonic bomber was en-route to the Avalon Airshow on next week-end - the landing closed the north-south runway until specialist towing equipment located at Avalon could be bought in

GIPPSLAND ULTRALIGHT CRASH INJURIES 2 AT HISTORIC RACE MEET

A 2-seat ultralight aircraft - carrying out a "lolly drop" as part of the Omeo Cup entertainment at the historic 133-year-old Hinnomunjie racecourse in north-eastern Victoria - struck power-lines and crashed

Omeo is the pioneering mountain town on the edge of the Snowy Mountains

"It was flying too low ...clipped the power lines and crashed at the edge of the racecourse"

The pilot and passenger suffered serious injuries with one of the pair sustaining a broken leg and burns after the machine burst into flames after ground impact

FEMALE COMMERCIAL PILOT UP-ENDS SPOTTER AIRCRAFT IN WEST OZ

A spotter aircraft operated by the Department of Environment and Conservation and with only the pilot on-board apparently got into difficulties trying to land at West OZ's Albany Regional Airport and crashed

Media reports have the unidentified machine getting caught in a cross-wind then crashing into the tarmac before flipping onto its roof - the pilot was treated for minor injuries at the scene
