CROP-DUSTER PILOT SURVIVES BLAZING CRASH IN VICTORIA

A 31-year-old crop-duster pilot - Michael East of Western Aerial - managed to escape the burning wreckage of his aircraft and was driven by a work colleague to a farmhouse to get help

The pilot was spreading cricket baits on farmland - "he was turning around above a ridge line when he clipped the top of trees before crashing into scrub"

Paramedics treated the pilot for burns and back injury then airlifted him to Royal Melbourne Hospital from the Camperdown Showgrounds

The crash sparked a fire that burnt out about a hectare of farmland at Scotts Creek in Victoria's south-west

HOME-BUILT RV-6A FLIPS ON LANDING AT SUNBURY'S PRIVATE AIRPORT

The owners of a private airfield about 34km north of Melbourne - Vince and Wendy Goulthorpe - became involved with media after one of the aircraft based on their 'field was involved in a mishap

A single-engine 2-seat RV-6A home-built ended up inverted after 'landing' - the 58-year-old owner-builder was able to extract himself from the overturned machine before emergency services arrived

Media reports have "the front tyre blew" as the reason for the inversion - a similar result will also occur after the third 'bounce' whilst landing

The aircraft concerned was a nose-wheel version of the popular Vans Kits - Sunbury’s Penfield Airfield is the largest privately owned airfield near Melbourne with 2 runways and full hangar facilities available
