MILITARY NOMAD CRASH DEPARTING AWANG IN PHILIPPINES

A 35-year-old OZ designed and built N22B Nomad operated by the Philippine military has crashed shortly after departing the Awang Airport in Cotabato City for Zamboanga - it crashed into a residential area and burst into flames destroying 2 houses and killing one civilian and the 8 military personnel on board

SEARCH UNDERWAY FOR ROBBO HELICOPTER NEAR KYOGLE

The Archerfield based Westpac Rescue Helicopter has been dispatched to search for a Robinson helicopter that apparently forced landed into a paddock in northern NSW

The four-place R-44 helicopter is believed to have crashed-landed near the northern NSW town of Kyogle just south of the QLD border - standby for further updates

Three men have escaped injury after the helicopter they were in crashed in rough country near Woodenbong in northern NSW

The trio were winched out and taken to the Lismore Hospital after they were found on top of a ridge in the Mount Barney National Park

GYROCOPTER PILOT FOUND DECEASED AT JINDABYNE AIRPORT

NSW Police advise that wreckage of a single-engine single-seater gyrocopter has been found within the grounds of Jindabyne airport after family members became concerned that the pilot had not returned from a local flight

Police believe the 67-year-old pilot had died in the crash some hours earlier - aviation specialists have been called in to investigate the crash which occurred at the Snowy Mountains airport on Sunday night

TASMANIAN PILOT SAVES VICTA AIRCRAFT IN BEACH LANDING

60-year-old Tasmanian veterinarian Mike Strudwick - a pilot for more than 30 years and keen member of the Aero Club of Southern Tasmania - apparently suffered a heart attack on a flight to the Bruny Island airstrip and landed the Victa he was flying on a beach at the Bruny Island Neck Game Reserve

The x-instructor landed successfully and apparently tried to walk to the road to seek help - his body was found in the nearby sand dunes

NEW PIPERSPORT COMPETES WITH CESSNA FOR LSA MARKET

Piper CEO Kevin Gould has announced that the company has a licensing agreement with the Czech Sport Aircraft designed and built SportCruiser to sell their 'new' LSA under the name PiperSport with deliveries to start in April

The Rotax 912 powered light sport and pilot training type aircraft will run on premium unleaded mogas or 100LL avgas with a range of 600nm
