A Cairns ultralight pilot escaped serious injury after his unidentified flying machine impacted the ground at the Atherton airstrip north-west of the Tablelands town in Far North QLD

The pilot - Ted Powell - managed to walk away with only a broken wrist and minor injuries after his lightweight machine crashed - he was taken to Atherton Hospital for treatment
