A Qantas B747-400 departing Singapore for Sydney with 412 passengers and 19 crew on board was forced to return and make an emergency landing after departing Singapore's Changi airport Apparently one of the Rolls-Royce RB211-524G-T engines had failed - "..the captain sought primary clearance to return to Singapore and the aircraft landed safely a short time later without incident"
Qantas has announced that it has suspended all of the six A380 aircraft that it has in service from taking-off until the engine safety issue has been resolved
Other operators of the A380 around the world including Singapore Airlines and Emirates do not intend to ground their aircraft at this point in time
