RC-114 PRANG DISRUPTS GRAND FINAL FOOTY FEVER IN GEELONG

Torquay residents are furious after a light aircraft clipped power-lines attempting to land at Geelong Airport around 1100hrs causing a major blackout in the area that will not be fixed until half way though the Grand Final


The Rockwell Commander 114 aircraft ended up on an embankment on the Surf Coast Highway and then burst into flames - the 59-year-old male pilot and his 15-year-old female passenger escaped with minor burns

MUSTERING CATTLE BY AIRCRAFT INJURIES 2 IN WEST QLD

A two-seat cattle mustering aircraft has crashed on a property at Eulo west of Cunnamulla injuring the male and female persons on board


Their injuries were reported as "moderate"

The aircraft - type not identified - apparently crashed from a height of about 30 metres early this morning and both were airlifted by emergency services aircraft to a Brisbane hospital for treatment

PA31 NIGHT FREIGHTER EMERGENCY LANDING IN TASMANIA

A Piper Navajo Chieftain operated by an airfreight company running nightly services between Melbourne and Tasmania experienced mechanical problems with the nose landing gear approaching Wynyard


The aircraft circled for about 30 minutes allowing emergency services to attend the scene where a landing was carried out with the twin-engine machine skidding along the runway on it's nose - there were no injuries

THUNDER MUSTANG DEMOLISHED LANDING AT RENO AIR-RACE

Strong winds caused air-race pilot George Giboney to lose control of his high-performance 'home-built' Thunder Mustang aircraft when trying to land at the Reno air-race in Nevada USA


Image shows the aircraft cart-wheeling during the landing attempt in strong windy conditions


George's injuries were only minor - the final races were cancelled due to the extreme weather conditions
