 TOP AEROBATICS PILOT INJURED IN AIR-SHOW CRASH AT BARRABA IN NSW 


One of Australia's most prominent and experienced aerobatics pilot was injured over the week-end during an air-show performance at the inaugural Barraba Action Aerobatics Display in central NSW



Former president of the OZ Aerobatic Club - Phil Unicomb - sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries after the Pitts Special S-2A he was flying impacted the ground in a level attitude during the opening of the air-show display



The Pitts was extensively damaged

 PIPER MALIBU EMERGENCY LANDING AT MEEKATHARRA IN WEST OZ 


A Perth based single-engine 6-seat Piper Malibu flying from Dulgunna Station in West OZ to Meekatharra landed short of the airport after what appears to be an engine failure on final approach



Fire and Emergency Services and Royal Flying Doctor Service were called to the crash site where two people were treated for cuts and bruises - the (only) passenger on board the flight walked away with minor injuries after being assessed at the RFDS triage hangar at the Meekatharra airport

 AUSSIE AIRSHIP PILOT KILLED DURING PROMOTIONAL FLIGHT IN GERMANY 


One of the world's most experienced Airship Pilots - 52-year-old Aussie Michael Nerandzic - lost his life after the Goodyear airship he was flying caught fire and crashed in Germany - Mike arranged for his (3) passengers to evacuate the gondola during the landing emergency when one of the engines hit the ground thus saving their lives



Mike had been the Chief Pilot on Lightships for the past 20 years and had 26 years in airships with more than 18,000 flight hours in 24 countries including Australia

 RARE WW2 ERA B-17 BOMBER DESTROYED AFTER ENGINE FIRE 


A Liberty Foundation restored B-17 based in Miami USA had an engine failure shortly after take-off that required an emergency landing in a cornfield near Chicago in the USA



It appears the number 2 engine had failed and caught fire - all seven persons on board the WW2 bomber were evacuated safely before the aircraft was consumed by the fire
