 SEARCH UNDER WAY IN WESTERN NSW FOR OVERDUE LIGHT AIRCRAFT 


A search is under way for a 79-year-old Mildura pilot who failed to return yesterday after taking-off in his Cessna single-engine aircraft from the Wentworth 'air-park' aerodrome situated around 30kms north-west of Mildura in western NSW


The Australian Maritime Safety Authority have initiated a search-and-rescue operation which is now under way - "We've got search-and-rescue aircraft from Melbourne and we've got a helicopter from Adelaide"

 AIRCRAFT LOCATED - PILOT FOUND DECEASED IN WRECKAGE 


A search helicopter spotted the wreckage of the Cessna 172 10km west of the Wentworth airfield shortly before 1730hrs yesterday


"Search crews confirmed the pilot - 79-year-old Ron Woulfe from Mildura - did not survive the crash"

 PARACHUTIST DIES AT RIPCORD DROP ZONE NEAR GATTON IN S-E QLD 


A 67-year-old experienced parachuter has died after both his main and reserve 'chute's failed to deploy during a routine skydive exercise at the Ripcord Drop Zone near Gatton in south-east QLD


"It is believed the man (from nearby Plainlands) had packed his own parachute - It is unknown whether his second parachute also failed or whether he did not have time to activate it"
