KOREAN BOEING 777 CLOSES SAN FRANCISCO AIRPORT AFTER LANDING CRASH

A Korean passenger jet operated by Asiana Airlines with 291 passengers and 16 crew has crashed on landing at San Francisco one of USA's busiest airports

Initial media reports suggest there were some fatalities but the Boeing 777 - one of 12 operated by Asiana - was destroyed in a post crash fire

Image perusal indicates the tail section impacted the end of the runway (that juts out into the sea) during the landing approach with the heavy jet then spinning collapsing the undercarriage and eventually erupting into flames

Light aircraft pilots term this style of landing as a "classic undershoot"
