ADVENTUROUS PAIR IN THRUSTER ULTRALIGHT SURVIVE BASS STRAIT DITCHING

Two young men were lucky to survive with only minor scratches after the 2-stroke powered 2-seater Thruster ultralight they were in had an engine failure while crossing Bass Strait en-route from Tasmania to Newcastle in NSW

"The plane's two occupants were spotted in the water wearing life jackets and were rescued by a police boat ..took off from Bridport this afternoon and was on its way to Newcastle ..engine failure caused the plane to ditch"

 NT MICROLIGHT PILOT DIES AFTER HEART ATTACK NEAR DARWIN 

A recreational pilot has died after the weight-shift controlled trike aircraft he was flying crashed into bushland at Girraween about 30km south-east of Darwin

Darwin's NT News .."The deceased was 55-year-old Girraween man was the sole occupant of the microlight trike and suffered a heart attack"

 HOME-BUILT LANCAIR CRASH AT SHEPPARTON IN VICTORIA CLAIMS TWO LIVES 

The pilot and his passenger have died after the fibreglass constructed kit-built Lancair Legacy they were in crashed shortly after take-off from the Shepparton airport and burst into flames

Victoria Police have confirmed that two men have died "..the plane crashed shortly after take-off about 100m south of the entrance to the Shepparton Airport"

 FIRE FIGHTER PILOT DIES IN WATER BOMBER CRASH ON NSW SOUTH COAST 

NSW Police have confirmed the death of a 43-year-old pilot who was undertaking water-bombing operations in rugged terrain

The crash appears to be as a result of structural failure "..the plane crashed after its wing snapped off"

 SEARCH UNDER WAY FOR MISSING CESSNA ON MORUYA-MANGALORE FLIGHT 

A search is under way for a single-engine Cessna 182 with only the pilot on board that has failed to arrive at Mangalore in Victoria after departing Moruya in NSW

From the Australian Maritime Safety Authority "..the aircraft was not heard from since it left Moruya ..the potential search area is quite a long distance"

 UPDATE  11:53 AM  24/10/2013  

The wreckage of the Cessna has been found by search crews about 20 kilometres west of Mount Hotham - the pilot deceased

"The pilot had been delivering parts for helicopters used in the firefighting effort in New South Wales"
