 PILOT CRITICALLY INJURED IN HOME-BUILT AIRCRAFT CRASH AT GERALDTON 

The pilot of a home-built Lancair Legacy that crashed at Geraldton Airport in West OZ is in a critical condition from burns to 50 or 60 per cent of his body after the machine he was flying caught fire in an attempt to land

Images of the crash site indicate that the amateur-built aircraft may have had an engine failure and collided with the airport's chain-wire security fence during the emergency landing

 THE UNIVERSITY OF QLD'S SCRAMJET READY FOR LAUNCH IN NORWAY 

UQ's latest scramjet experiment is on the launch pad at Andoya Rocket Range in Norway 300km north of the Arctic Circle - the 1.8 metre spacecraft is programmed to reach an altitude of 320 kilometres powered by a two-stage rocket

At between 32 and 27 kilometres on return hydrogen fuel will be injected into the combustion area and instruments will analyse if combustion has been achieved and measure the thrust generated - all in a 3 second time slot

 EXPERIMENTAL SCRAMJET MOTHBALLED AFTER ROCKET FAILURE 

UQ's Professor Russell Boyce has advised that the rocket was launched in ideal conditions at the Andoya Rocket Range in Norway but something went wrong

"The rocket carrying the scramjet (was) launched ...however the payload failed to achieve the correct altitude to begin the scientific experiment as planned"

 FATAL CESSNA CRASH AT BELLFIELD NORTH OF RICHMOND IN CENTRAL QLD 

QLD Police have reported on a 1977 model Cessna C206 accident that occurred on Bellfield Station around 180-km north of Richmond in which two men were injured and later died

The critically injured person has died ..."A man in his 50s has been killed" ...the other person on board - a male in his 20's also died later - the Cessna was en-route to Croydon in FNQ at the time
