 PILOT SAFE AFTER CESSNA 210 UNDERCARRIAGE MALFUNCTION IN NSW 

The pilot of a 1968 model Cessna 210 escaped unharmed after the retractable undercarriage 6-seat aircraft he was flying had the landing gear malfunction apparently after departing Naracoorte earlier

The pilot diverted to Wagga-Wagga airport where he carried out a successful 'wheels-up' landing after emergency services personnel were deployed to the airport - the pilot was uninjured

 MYSTERY SURROUNDS P-51D MUSTANG WARBIRD CRASH IN USA 

Both the owner-pilot of a Mustang Warbird along with his passenger lost their lives after the classic aircraft they were in crashed in unknown circumstances in the USA
Both were highly experienced pilots in a highly recognisable P-51D aircraft named "Big Beautiful Doll"

The pilot was "a certified airplane and helicopter flight instructor and was known as an accomplished aerobatic and air show performer"
The passenger "had over 26,000 flight hours and was retired after having worked for FedEx and owned multiple vintage aircraft"

'Big Beautiful Doll' was an Australian built Mustang manufactured by the Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation in 1951 designated CA-18 Mk.22

 PRIVATE VISUAL FLYING RULES IN OZ UNDER REVIEW BY CASA - AGAIN 

After 40-years of fiddling with the regulations for non-instrument rated private pilots it looks like CASA is once again set to "the post-implementation review of the new pilot licensing regulations"

Dick Smith has been able to establish that 65 per cent of eligible pilots in the US hold an instrument rating to fly without a natural horizon - the comparable figure in Australia is only 16 per cent
