NASA CHOOSES EQUATORIAL LAUNCH AUSTRALIA'S NHULUNBUY ROCKET SITE
USA has announced its intention to send sounding rockets into space from the yet-to-be-constructed spaceport in Arnhem Land 700 kilometres east of Darwin (near Gove) after the Federal Government last year chose Adelaide as the headquarters of Australia's new space agency 'NASA plans to award a contract to Equatorial Launch Australia (ELA) to provide services to NASA for a temporary southern hemisphere launch site'

GYROCOPTER PILOT FOUND DECEASED AFTER INTENSIVE 5-DAY SEARCH IN NT RIVER
Gyrocopter pilot - 48-year-old James Russell from Katherine - was found deceased after police divers located the rotary-wing he was flying in the Victoria River not far from the airstrip at Timber Creek in the NT 600-kilometres south of Darwin Police divers spent 5-days in the crocodile-infested water searching in an underwater cage before locating the crashed aircraft 'It is believed he collided with power lines and lost power shortly after take-off'

Air Traffic Control contacted AMSA at about 1:15pm to report that a warbird aircraft with two people on board had failed to return after departing Southport airfield on a 30-minute scenic flight at 10:00am 'The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) confirmed on Wednesday afternoon it had started a search and rescue response for the missing aircraft in the vicinity of South Stradbroke Island'
