ARCHERFIELD AIRPORT CORPORATION 20th. November 1998 Editor "Pensinula Post" 12-11-98 Author: Mr Bob Wright Dear Sir, I refer to the article "Aerodrome Set to Grow" Page 1, Pensinula Post, November 12. The Article begins:- "Redcliffe Aerodrome could be upgraded next year to cater for an expected influx of operators vacating Archerfield Airport which is expected to close soon..." Your readers will be pleased to know that Archerfield which has played a central role in the development of aviation remains the premier general aviation airport in Queensland. It is also the busiest airport in Queensland. In terms of aircraft movements it handles approximately 100,000 more per annum than Brisbane Domestic and International combined. It is a vital part of the infrastructure of South East Queensland. The Commonwealth, in consultation with the State Government and Brisbane City Council, has ensured its future through the terms of the process under which the airport was recently privatised. Archerfield Airport Corporation is committed to the revitalisation of General Aviation at Archerfield. The Corporation has budgeted over ten million dollars for upgrade and development of facilities under our Development Plan, which is now being finalised and will be released early in the New Year. It is true that at least two Aerodromes in South East Queensland may close in the next twenty years. Archerfield is not one of them, We look forward to a rejuvenated and expanded Archerfield with reduced charges and improved services. Now that Privatisation is out of the way it is back to business - not the subsidised business of the past, but business which seeks to excel in a competitive environment. Yours sincerely, Gavin Bird ARCHERFIELD AIRPORT CORPORATION
