Latest Domain Report indicates that the viewers from the "Land of the Long
White Cloud" (Kiwi Land) have given up looking at these pages

. . . . . meanwhile a small Micro Lite Aircraft is slowly making it's way from
England to "down under" and was going to call into Archerfield but has been advised by "AUF"
personnel that this 'Field is not the best place to visit
. . . . bureaucracy at "work" again!
Saturday 10
Groundwork Airside continues to be the prominent airfield activity during the
past week
The Fuel Farm takes shape alongside the taxiway for Runway
28R/10L with the new building "high rise" and Oil Company Sign now the dominating feature of
the mid-field area
. . . . . "crowding" of any runway always makes a pilot feel nervous prior to
take-off just in case he/she has to return for an emergency downwind landing
. . . . . but then modern fully certified aircraft engines just don't fail when
airborne nowadays especially from things like a broken crankshaft connecting rod cap from
the end result of a "dropped" valve
. . . . . or do they . . . ?

Another interesting restoration project well under way on the 'Field at the
moment is a Hawker Hunter Jet
These aircraft made a name for themselves in the early part of the 1950's English Jet
Fighter development
This x Singapore Air Force two seat model at Archerfield is only one of a small handful
surviving to-day in what will be "Flying Air Show" condition
Taxying trials are been carried out at the moment and progress can be followed via the
Hunters' Owners web page Hunter Flight
. . . . . that will make 3 historical jet fighters/trainers on the field
. . . . the other two are the Provost and the
MiG-15

The airport "Fuel Farm" continues to grow in "expensive" activity
An all weather taxiway is now required to enable the Fuel Tankers to get to the new
airside "farm"
Many a pilot will be envious of this "truck taxiway" as he/she remembers having to dig out
their "bogged" aircraft around this area after wet weather
And a reminder to all those tendering for the "purchase" of Archerfield, there is now only a
little over 3 weeks left to complete and submit the tender documents
. . . . . don't forget, the "takeover" of the Airport Operations is July 1 this
year!
. . . . . and the operations centre of AirCentre will be transferred to Hangar 1
mid next week
. . . . for those concerned about the now "world famous" coffee ....it will still be
available !
