The new "owner" of Archerfield as from to-day is a newly registered company called "Archerfield Airport Corporation"

Various signs around the airfield have already been changed to display the new owner's position and of prominence on these signs are the initials "A.A.C." representing the new owner

The Airservices new charges that were to apply from to-day for control Tower services and en-route I.F.R. flights appears to be delayed

The AirCentre news desk has confirmed that the Archerfield aircraft re-fueller is yet to be advised officially by the Oil Companies of the reduction in the price of Avgas

. . . . . . now the initials A.A.C. of the 'field's owner is not to confused with this web site owner, Airport Aviation Centre, which also uses this abbreviation

. . . . . after all, Airport Aviation Centre, now trading and using the Internet name AirCentre, has been at Archerfield the past 20 years!

and

. . . . . just for the record,

. . . . there is definitely no "association" with AirCentre A.A.C. and the new airfield owner A.A.C.!

. . . . . local media reports yesterday indicate the imminent closure of the 'field's CASA offices, but the "real life" situation appears to be the opposite, with unconfirmed reports of the "city office" closing and moving to AF!

The price of Avgas for both the LL100 and 100/130 has now dropped to below the 65 cent per litre mark under "user pays"

After a strong "push" by the Flying Schools, the control Tower will now not be charging for each "touch and go" on the "training" aircraft carrying out circuits but rather only for the first (or last) one

. . . . . . after the high drama at the start of the week all is now "calm" on the flying front

. . . . . perhaps its the thought that the average "lightie" will now "save" around $2000.00 per year in fuel costs alone when flying about 400 hrs in this same time frame, however

. . . . . depending on the number of landings at a control tower airfield, it could also cost $2500.00 in "services" in a one landing per flying hour average!

General news items around the 'field include a "break and enter" of the Airport Cafeteria in the early hours of Monday morning

Airside, a (very) rare turbine powered 450 hp US registered, Aussie owned and operated, pressurized Cessna C210 "prop-jet" paid a visit to the 'field yesterday

A YAK 52 "look-a-like", a Chinese built Nanchang CJ6, also dropped into the 'field the day before and had a R.O.N. (remain over night)

. . . . . . airport security still a contentious issue with some of the operators on the 'field

. . . . . and indications from the airport tower suggest that the controllers are doing their best to keep costs down, albeit at a small reduction in availability of services

. . . . it's called "trying to keep everyone happy", that's trying to cover the needs of beginner pilots and flying schools and the "I also own a bank overdraft" aircraft owners!

The Caboolture based Lancair IV is expected to call into the 'field to-day for a final check over before departing early tomorrow on an around-the-world flight

. . . . . . progress of the Lancair flight can be followed via the Internet

Lang Kidby has had a 'mishap' in his Avro Avian

Click HERE for details and the current flight re-enactment status

. . . . . . it's nice to see Lang getting so much help for his damaged Avian in England

. . . . . . classic aircraft of this type are irreplaceable and deserve the attention, even if it is a long way from 'home'

The AOPA released the following information during the week that affects all persons who fly for "fun and pleasure"

The Australian Government has agreed to the following changes on how aircraft are to be manufactured and certified here in OZ

We now have an EXPERIMENTAL CATEGORY for builders and flyers of "home built" aircraft

A new RESTRICTED CATEGORY for aerial photography, survey and agricultural operations

A new LIMITED CATEGORY for enthusiasts of Historic, Ex-Military and Replica aircraft

A PRIMARY CATEGORY allowing for low-cost aircraft to be built

In addition, and unique to Australia is an INTERMEDIATE CATEGORY, which is intended to produce a range of small multi-engine aircraft

. . . . . . the following comments were extracted from the AOPA news release and are fully supported by this News Desk

. . . . . . for the first time, Australia and Australians are set to enjoy the very same freedoms which have made the USA such an aviation powerhouse

. . . . . . it's incredible that this has taken so long

. . . . . it is now almost a century since the Wright Brothers first flew?

. . . . congratulations AOPA

Congratulations
