Noel's introduction to the aviation scene was at the beginning of WW11 when Noel - at the age of 18 -
enlisted to join the RAAF in the ground support role of aircraft maintenance and also assist with building the DH-82A Tiger Moths that were urgently required
to train the war-time pilots of the era
After spending the following 8 years with the military Noel was demobilised and after a brief stint in PNG
Noel and his family by now ended up at Camden airport west of Sydney where he put his hard earned war-time experience and knowledge to work in a hangar involving maintaining
and selling light aircraft along with a local travel agency he had set up in the town's business centre
In the mid-70's Noel visited Queensland on a holiday and decided to stay
He purchased a house at Indooroopilly and started selling light aircraft from Archerfield as an employee of the then George Adams Aviation
After
a few years with George Noel decided to set up his own business trading as "Noel Notley Aircraft Sales" operating out of a small corner section
on the ground floor of the main terminal building at Archerfield airport where he remained up until the early 1990's
He retired after successfully selling his light aircraft sales business and spent the next two years travelling around OZ in his motor-home returning to live in Buderim on the Sunshine Coast north of Brisbane
Noel was a Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer with all the tickets needed to service small and larger aircraft -
including the DC3/4/6's piston engine radial types
- It was with this hard earned knowledge and wide experience level in all types of small business operations that helped Noel run his own light aircraft sales business
